Carouge Swimming Pool

Located on the outskirts of the city center, the site engages with distant horizons: the Crêts-de-Champel and the Salève, both of which evoke a broader landscape connected by the Arve Valley. This valley recalls the historic tradition of bathing. Through the use of an autonomous and singular form, the project seeks to integrate and extend the site’s defining characteristics. This form positions itself along Route de Veyrier, aligning with the existing building to be preserved, while situating the entrance hall and restaurant to face the reconfigured public space. This approach ensures the preservation of notable existing trees on both the road and park sides.

The fluid form adapts to the site, encompassing a carefully organized hierarchy of spaces. At its core, the changing rooms are central to the design and pathways. Surrounding them, the space opens up, allowing free movement through an architectural promenade leading toward the pools. The views are unobstructed, connecting seamlessly with nature. This journey is punctuated by various facilities: the wellness center, the restaurant, and the reception area. The roof mirrors the topographical work carried out on the ground.
